A thousand words.

What words do you see?

What words do you see?

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.  Although nobody is sure who the mysterious they may be… in this case, they’re right.  The fantastic picture above, taken by Laurie Scavo, said exactly 1,000 words.

The people over at Brilliant Flash Fiction set a contest to write a flash piece inspired by the delightful photo.  On top of being thankful for a nice slice of inspiration to get the creative juices flowing, I was also rather happy with the finished story.  I was even more happy when I heard it had been long listed for the competition.

So you can read my slightly surreal and delightfully playful short story, Dawn Chorus, on the competition website.  I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.  There may have been some dancing around my laptop to really get into the spirit of things.  But there’s no way you can prove that.
